Dilansir laman Slashgear, Jumat (2/8/2013), kabar ini pertama kali diungkapkan oleh komunitas pengembang aplikasi BlackBerry Beta Zone. Para anggota komunitas tersebut mengaku telah mendapatkan email dari BlackBerry yang mengabarkan bahwa mereka telah dapat mengunduh aplikasi BBM untuk Android dan iOS mulai Kamis (1/8/2013) kemarin.

Kabar ini mengindikasikan bahwa software BBM lintas platform itu sedang dalam tahap pengujian lebih lanjut. Sebab, para anggota komunitas BlackBerry Beta Zone mengaku ditugasi untuk memastikan tidak adanya bug yang mengganggu saat BBM untuk Android dan iOS ini dirilis secara resmi.

Menurut informasi terakhir yang beredar, nantinya BBM untuk Android dapat diakses oleh sistem operasi Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ke atas. Sedangkan BBM untuk iOS, dapat digunakan minimal pada iPhone yang sudah berjalan di atas sistem operasi iOS 6.

Aplikasi perpesanan yang telah cukup lama menjadi ikon bagi perusahaan asal Kanada tersebut rencananya akan benar-benar resmi dirilis per September 2013 mendatang.
