Gun and Bomb attacks at Lido Beach Mogadishu, Somalia
Mainstream beachfront eateries have been hit via auto bombs and shooters in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

BBC somalia reports that the first car bomb went off early in the evening, not long 5 gunmen were seen approaching the beach, about half an hour later a second car bomb went off.

One report said no less than three people had passed on. The toll is dreaded to rise.

Al-Shabab said it was behind the assault and its contenders were still in one of the cafes.

The Somali Prime Minister, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, condemned the assault as "barbaric".

Lido beach is a prevalent spot for Somalis to come and unwind.

There are differing reports about how the assault began yet it gives the idea that as the first car bomb went off, at around 19:30 local time (16:30 GMT), the shooters raged the zone.

The Beach View and Lido Sea Food eateries were focused on, Abdirahman Koronto from the BBCs Somali administration reports.

A cop at the scene told Reuters news agency the shooters were "still inside" one of the eateries.  "We cannot know the number of casualties inside," Major Farah Abdulle said.

Al-Shabab representative Sheik Abdiasis Abu Musab told Reuters: "We are inside and control the bistro. There are numerous setbacks lying inside and outside the bistro."

At the scene: Ali-Bashe Abdullahi Abdi, executive of Mustakbal Radio, Mogadishu

After the night supplication to God, I went to Lido Beach View eatery. When I arrived around 30 minutes, and I was hanging out with my companions including Journalists, we saw gunshots banging on us.

Many people were sitting by me, there was a wedding service at the corridor of the eatery. We began running towards the entryway, before we get to the door i heard a loud bomb explosion.

I saw a few individuals hopping from second floor. Bullets were flying everywhere, and there was another blast. At that point everybody got confounded. I for one saw three injured individuals. I didnt see the individuals who have been hurt by the blasts. I think the vehicle was parked close to the main entrance of the restaurant.

Lido Beach, on the northern edge of Mogadishu, pulls in a large number of for the most part youthful Somalis hoping to unwind and appreciate the beach and the surf.

A few eateries have opened up along the shoreline front lately, and people would have been sitting out before them when the assaults started.

Al-Shabab, which has connections to al-Qaeda, has done comparable assaults previously. The gathering was expelled from Mogadishu in August 2011, yet at the same time has a vicinity in vast zones of southern Somalia and much of the time focuses on the capital city.

The group raged an African Union military base a week ago in southern Somalia, killing many Kenyan troops.
