Windows 10 update for phones delayed once again, Microsoft expects to launch it next month

Windows 10 update for phones delayed once again, Microsoft expects to launch it next month

Its a frustrating time to be a Windows Phone user. Back in October, Microsoft said that Windows 10 updates for Windows Phone 8.x devices would be available starting the end of 2015. But the company had to delay the updates to "early 2016." If youre hoping that this means January, we have bad news: it does not.

According to Venture Beat, Microsoft announced partners (via email) that its delaying Windows 10 updates until next month. Reportedly, owners of Windows Phone 8.x handsets should expect to get the new version of Microsofts OS starting early, or mid February.

February is also the month when Microsoft is allegedly planning to announce and launch the Lumia 650, which should become the companys fourth smartphone to run Windows 10 out of the box.

Meanwhile, you can experience Windows 10 on a phone only if youre a member of the Windows Insider program, or if you have one of the three handsets that Microsoft released in late 2015: Lumia 950Lumia 950 XL, or Lumia 550. Speaking of the 950 and 950 XL, both should receive firmware updates next month.

Samsung Galaxy S7 to launch on March 11th?

A tweet from Evan Blass disseminated by the tipster on Friday, reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will have its U.S. release on Friday, March 11th. We expect to see the new flagship phone unveiled on February 21st during Samsungs Unpacked 2016 event. That happens to be the day before the 2016 Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona.

The latest rumors call for the Samsung Galaxy S7 to carry a 5.1-inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. Depending on where you live, the phone will be powered by either the Snapdragon 820 chipset (US. and China) or the Exynos 8890 SoC (for the rest of the world). 4GB of RAM is inside, and a model recently tested by AnTuTu offered 64GB of native storage. A 12MP camera adorns the rear of the phone, with a 5MP selfie snapper on front.

At the same time that the Galaxy S7 is introduced, we should see the larger-screened Samsung Galaxy S7 edge unveiled. This model will sport a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution screen. There is some speculation that the Galaxy S7 series will bring back some of the features found on 2014s Samsung Galaxy S5 that disappeared the following year. We are talking about a microSD slot, IP67 certification (proving that the phone is protected from dust and water), and a removable battery.
